The Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical & Healthcare B2B Investment Conference, held in Islamabad on 17–18 July 2026 and organised by SIFC, the health ministry and DRAP, ended with a set of agreements aimed at making more of Pakistan’s medicines — and their ingredients — at home.

What was signed

Digital Pakistan reported agreements worth roughly $850 million: 16 contracts worth $600 million and 80 MoUs worth $250 million, 18 of them on herbal medicines. INP-WealthPK reported slightly different totals (22 commercial agreements worth $629.5 million and 84 MoUs worth about $800 million); either way, the scale is significant.

Priority areas

  • Vaccines — the health minister warned that vaccine import costs could reach $1.2 billion by 2030.
  • Pharmaceutical raw materials — Pakistan imports about 90% of them.
  • Medical devices.
  • Other accords cover clinical trials, vocational training and technology transfer.

About 146 Chinese companies and more than 200 Pakistani firms took part, according to Digital Pakistan. Several Chinese executives said they expected implementation within two years.

What to watch

Analysts cautioned that turning MoUs into factories will need consistent policy, timely regulatory approvals and infrastructure. The test will be how many projects reach construction in 2027.
